Respit within the Hubbub of Christmas

The Senior Center offered the Plein Air Thursday group a respite amongst the busy hubbub of the holidays. The creativity was especially high this day.
Some of our friends returned to the group after a time away...so it was so good to welcome everyone.

Linda started this pastel painting of the chip monks that
visit her deck. Great start, Linda

Nancy adjusted this oil painting of Lupin. The colors light in this
painting is interesting and draws the eye into the painting

Nancy captured this painting using oils of these children
in Nova Scotia on a field trip. The subject is interesting and the colors are

Rita painted this mushroom growing on a tree stump using
pastels. The colors are subtle but make a statement. The
organic feeling is interesting. Great job Rita!

Priscilla painted this landscape using acrylics. Her use of color
makes for an interesting composition. Great to have you back

Terrie painted this church using acrylics. The overall feeling
in this painting is a stark almost Armish feel in. Great start, Terrie!

Nathan. It has a remarkable likeness of Nathan.....who knew?!

Plein Air Painting Inside!

This week there were no tables in the art room so we all brought in our plain air easels and set up just like we were outside!

Group decisions....We will have out Christmas swap on Dec 20th in the art room. Bring a small painting (original) and do NOT sign it. Place it in an envelope so nobody can identify who painted it.  (we will give out the rest of the details at the Christmas Swap.)

Bring some goodies because we will be partying!!!! 

We also decided as a group that we will be showing our art at the Senior Center for May and June ....more details to follow as we get closer.

Gigi painted Mom and Baby Egret using oils. The texture of the
painting adds to the dimension and interest. Beautiful painting , Gigi!

Gigi painted a second piece using oils. The wooded scene is
of  exposed birds nests up in the trees. The movement of the
trees is wonderful as is the sky color. Fabulous, Gigi

is interesting as your eye flows thru the scene. The
Mountains are soft and appear far away. Great

colors are very interesting and the water patterns and

Rita painted this seacoast scene using pastels. This painting
could have been uninteresting but Rita used many colors to
create the rocks which resulted in a dynamic outcome.

never looked so good. Interesting composition as well

pastels. The colors are vibrant and the strokes create visual

is interesting as one looks up at the bell.  The
sky has lots of values and marks that make it

Terrie painted this mid western scene using acrylics. The stark
contrast of the barn and the surroundings create an Armish
feeling. Beautiful shadow work, Terrie.

monotones, and not liking it. Sue went on
to finish it in color.
