The way to understand art is to go and look at it. And if out of a million visitors there is even one to whom art means something, that is enough to justify museums ( Pierre Auguste Renoir)
"Art is a lifetime matter. The best any artist can do is to
accumulate all the knowledge possible of art and its principles, study
nature and practice continually." (Edgar Payne, 1883-1947)

Mid winter delights

Mid winter might be a time of hibernation for some but not for the artist of Plein Air Thursday group. Their dedication to painting and all things art is, creativity at it's best.  And to prove my point here are the PAT group submissions.
I understand Priscilla stopped by for awhile. I know your recuperating still so my advice, for what it's worth is, put up your feet and paint!

Gail captured these threes in the winter light using watercolor. Lovely light and interesting composition.

Gail first sketched the trees before she painted the piece above. Great darks and lights

Gail's monotype...done in Linda's class.  Beautiful!

Another monotype by Gail...incredible!
Gigi painted these hollyhocks on a winter day but the colors and shadows suggest
a wonderful summer day. Love this! (oil)

Gigi painted this Maine scene. I love the many colors in the rocks. Gigi used oils to
paint this painting that could be typical rocks but with Gigi's touch they are
truly a work of art.
Gail painted these trees using watercolor on Yupo.  Love the way the tree branches lighten as they go up. The background is also very interesting. Shadows and lights are used very effectively. Great job Gail.

Terri painted these yellow tulips in a blue bowl. The colors are beautiful together, while playing off the soft background. Terri used acrylics to paint this beauty.

Gigi painted these yellow Hollyhocks using oils. She captured the sunny feeling of this
painting. This painting has a feeling of "Monet".

Liz painted this paining in acrylic. The rock bound coast is beautifully rendered in many colors.
Great use of color.

This is the painting Liz finished this week. Using acrylics she captured
this sweet house in Stonnington. I just love the composition.

The Lady in blue was painted by Liz using acrylics. I love the ghost  effect  she used. The background is very interesting and does not take away from the figure.  Liz, sign it . I love it just the way it is!

I (Sue) painted this painting plein air. It is titled: Beach Walkway.
I painted this using oil.

My view from my Lanai across the fairway. 8 X 10 oil.

"Sway of the Palms"..Plein air painting by Sue using oils 6 X 6...posted last week and is now finished.
