The way to understand art is to go and look at it. And if out of a million visitors there is even one to whom art means something, that is enough to justify museums ( Pierre Auguste Renoir)
"Art is a lifetime matter. The best any artist can do is to
accumulate all the knowledge possible of art and its principles, study
nature and practice continually." (Edgar Payne, 1883-1947)

The Sky is the Limit

This week we painted inside at the Senior Center because of impending rain. Some of us painted using some new techniques. Experimenting with new techniques can bring out creativity and new direction in an artist...plus it's lots of fun. The sky is the limit.

Sue painted this on location at Gail's cottage in Hancock.  Using acrylics, Sue painted this
plein air and then brought it in the art room to add more.

Sue painted this scene plein air using acrylics . Today she added some touches to it in the art room.
Location is Hancock, Maine

Michelle tried something new with this painting. She printed the photo on pastel paper and then
she added the color using pastels.  The result is a softness and a beautiful painting.
Fabulous Michelle!
This Zebra was painted by Michelle using the new technique of printing the photo
on pastel paper and then adding the color using pastels. The result is unique and
interesting. Fabulous Michelle!

Gigi painted this colorful  tulip using acrylics.  The perspective she used is very interesting.
The colors are bright and happy. This is part one of three that Gigi painted.
Wonderful Gigi!

Gigi painted these happy tulips blowing in the wind. She used acrylics to create this beauty. Her loose brush strokes
add to the emotion of this piece.  It is the second one in her series of three.
Fabulous Gigi!

Gigi again used this unique perspective to paint her cheery tulip using acrylics. This is the
third piece in her series. Beautifully done, Gigi!

Sheila used watercolor to create this beautiful, mystical painting. Her color choice is bright and alluring .
Sheila painted the water with beautiful strokes that  have a shimmer about them. Her loose
approach makes this painting unique and expressive. Beautiful, Sheila!

Terrie painted these three little ducks using acrylics and lots of expression. These little ducks look as if the
are chattering together...."and now for our swimming lesson"
Wonder, Terrie!

Sheila painted this scene (looking out the window) using watercolor. The reflections
in the windows are beautiful . (sorry my camera does not do this painting justice)
Wonderful job, Sheila!

Nancy painted this beautiful floral painting using oils. When painting this still-life she
created fabulous colorful iris. The positioning of the jars is critical in creating interest.
Beautiful Nancy!

Terrie painted this beautiful and colorful scene. Her painting is in progress.
Hope to see this when your finished. Great job, Terrie,

Linda painted this lake side scene using pastels. Great composition and the viewer is led into the painting
with the dock and led around the painting. This painting is in progress. Great job, Linda

Charlene painted these rock formation using watercolor on Yupo. This paper is difficult to
paint on since it does not absorb any water. Charlene mastered this difficult technique and produced
a beautiful painting. Fabulous color in those rocks, Charlene.

Hi Sheila, Glad to have you back painting!
