Quote

The way to understand art is to go and look at it. And if out of a million visitors there is even one to whom art means something, that is enough to justify museums ( Pierre Auguste Renoir)
"Art is a lifetime matter. The best any artist can do is to
accumulate all the knowledge possible of art and its principles, study
nature and practice continually." (Edgar Payne, 1883-1947)

Full House

Today we had a full house with the exception of Gail. What a busy, robust, active, artistic group!
We were all were inspired by each other...isn't that what a painting group is for?!
Gig takes on the Masters using oils. The scene of poppies is
lively captured by Gigi. Great job Gigi!

Carol holds her newest painting.

Barbara is coloring in her book( a color book) that she is illustrating.
The book should be published this summer. Kudos to Barbara. Can't
wait to see the finished book.

Carol painted this floral using oils. She used many shades
of white to make the flower. This painting is in progress. This is
going to be wonderful, Carol! Great job so far!

Priscilla

Gigi painted another painting by the Masters. This is great practice
and it a great way to learn. Great job, Gigi!

Liz concentrating.

Gloria finished her painting using pastels. This old house is
in Searsport on Rt.1 Fabulous job Gloria!

Charlene finished her watercolor of Monhegan. This painting
draws the viewer way into the painting. Beautiful sky, Charlene...in
fact, the whole painting is beautiful!

Priscilla painted a portrait of her cat. The composition is wonderful
and the angle is interesting. Love this Priscilla. Priscilla has
a bit more to do on this painting...add whiskers and the pet portrait will
be finished.

Terrie Painted this scene using acrylics. The quaint fishing shack is
located in Newfoundland. Terrie painted the rocks with lost of shadows.
The painting is in progress....great job so far, Terrie!

took a photo and painted from the photo. Nancy is a master of shadow
and light and she proves it again in this painting. Beautiful, Nancy!
(sorry about my finger print!)

Sue painted this scene using pastels. This is a scene from her imagination so
no photo was used to create this painting. The goal of this painting was to
make a loose painting with interesting strokes.

Nancy did it again! Lovely shadows and highlights
that makes us this beautiful still life.  The cool
background is a great contrast for the warm color
of the flower. Wonderful, Nancy!

Liz started this new painting using acrylics. She is
in the beginning stages and has a great start. The window scene
will be a very interesting composition. Can't wait to see the finished
painting. Great job. Liz

wedges and ice cubes using watercolors. This
is a very difficult concept and she painted
this very successfully. This painting is in progress.
Great Job. Sheila!

Michelle painted this portrait of her Great Aunt Cora
using pastels. This is her first portrait and she
is bringing Great Aunt Cora to life. Great job, Michelle!

The many shades of green and the fact that she painted only a few
leaves lets the viewer fill in the rest....a sign of a great painting.
