The way to understand art is to go and look at it. And if out of a million visitors there is even one to whom art means something, that is enough to justify museums ( Pierre Auguste Renoir)
"Art is a lifetime matter. The best any artist can do is to
accumulate all the knowledge possible of art and its principles, study
nature and practice continually." (Edgar Payne, 1883-1947)

Winter Mix

Winter is here and the excitement of an upcoming storm did not deter the Plein Air Thursday group from painting their own artistic storm. The creativity was flowing in the art room as the group began the session.
We had a visitor, Gail Hypsky. Gail is one busy person and she is  helping to keep our city planners
on target.
Priscilla managed to get out of the art room without me taking a picture of her art...she said something
about the early-bird special??

Michelle painted this beautiful scene using pastels. She used a
triadic color scheme which enhances the continuity within
the piece. Wonderful Job, Michelle!

Terrie painted this restful scene using acrylic.  The composition
is wonderful. The chair is the focal point however the eye travels
through the painting to the water in the background. Fabulous, Terrie!

Liz painted this interior using acrylic. The painting
is in progress. Great start..can't wait to see the finished
painting. Great job, Liz.

Rita brought in some paintings that she wanted to
adjust. This composition is interesting and evokes a feeling
of serenity. Rita increased the values in the painting which
made for a very successful painting. Fabulous, Rita!

by adding color and values. The composition of this
painting is very interesting with the flower on the
upper right but your eye travels through out
the painting. Lovely, Rita!
