Hancock, Me. Here WE Come!

After a full week or rain the sun finally came out. The temps rose from 52 degrees to 85 degrees.Wow, What a difference. Thursday was the perfect day to go to Hancock to paint plain air. Gail was nice enough to offer her cottage for the day and we took full advantage. We all packed our lunches and painting gear and carpooled to Hancock.
Here is the culmination of all the paintings we did.

Gigi and Gloria started out with a bang....Gigi had several paintings done before the rest of us
figured out just what we were going to paint.

Linda is happy to be by the coast!

Michelle did this pen and ink sketch of some rocks and seaweed  on the beach. Her use
of many varied lines to create the scene is interesting and alluring.

Charlene painted this scene using pastels.  The curves of the roots and the beautiful negative
spaces make a very interesting design. The colors are beautiful that Charlene used and
her use of warm colors in the foreground draws the viewer into the painting. Spectacular, Charlene!

Rita painted these Lady Slipper's using pastels. The shapes are very interesting and  the viewers eye travels

Gail sketched this tree using pen and ink. She
will be adding some watercolor washes to it. Can't

Gail painted these plastic soda bottles using acrylics. She is using the bottles
to help irrigate her garden when she is away. So Colorful and too
beautiful for a soda bottle. Great job Gail!

Weather Delay

The Plein Air Thursday painting group was ready to take a road trip to Gail's cottage however mother nature had different plans. The rain has been with us for a week now making painting outside impossible. So...the road trip is on for next Thursday. (here's hoping the rain stops)Think SUN!
Since the trip was off we painted inside at the Center. We had a small group however the paintings produced are outstanding...
Gloria  painted this fall scene using pastels. Gloria is using many greens to compliment her painting. This
painting is in progress..Great job so far, Gloria!

Sue painted this still-life using acrylics. The reflections were important in this painting. Sue
used many glazing layers to make this pitcher  appear white, even with all the shadows.

Terrie painted this still-life using acrylics. Terrie painted the table with many colors which
grounded the pitcher. The Lemon glows and is reflected in the pitcher and the pitcher
is beautifully done. Fabulous Terrie!

Linda painted this scene using pastels. The sketch is in the formative stages however the viewer can see
that the composition is interesting and the eye travels throughout the painting. Wonderful, Linda!

Michelle painted this portrait using pastels.  This painting is part of Michelle's
writers series. The skin colors are wonderful which is very difficult. Michelle,
this is a fabulous portrait!

Priscilla painted this 2 Anhingus hanging out on a wharf post using acrylics. Her background
has many colors and is just beautiful. The post also have many colors. The painting is
in progress . So far, its wonderful. Great job, Priscilla!

Terrie painted this mid-west scene using acrylics. Her colors are beautiful and this photo does not
