The way to understand art is to go and look at it. And if out of a million visitors there is even one to whom art means something, that is enough to justify museums ( Pierre Auguste Renoir)
"Art is a lifetime matter. The best any artist can do is to
accumulate all the knowledge possible of art and its principles, study
nature and practice continually." (Edgar Payne, 1883-1947)

Weather Delay

The Plein Air Thursday painting group was ready to take a road trip to Gail's cottage however mother nature had different plans. The rain has been with us for a week now making painting outside impossible. So...the road trip is on for next Thursday. (here's hoping the rain stops)Think SUN!
Since the trip was off we painted inside at the Center. We had a small group however the paintings produced are outstanding...
Gloria  painted this fall scene using pastels. Gloria is using many greens to compliment her painting. This
painting is in progress..Great job so far, Gloria!

Sue painted this still-life using acrylics. The reflections were important in this painting. Sue
used many glazing layers to make this pitcher  appear white, even with all the shadows.

Terrie painted this still-life using acrylics. Terrie painted the table with many colors which
grounded the pitcher. The Lemon glows and is reflected in the pitcher and the pitcher
is beautifully done. Fabulous Terrie!

Linda painted this scene using pastels. The sketch is in the formative stages however the viewer can see
that the composition is interesting and the eye travels throughout the painting. Wonderful, Linda!

Michelle painted this portrait using pastels.  This painting is part of Michelle's
writers series. The skin colors are wonderful which is very difficult. Michelle,
this is a fabulous portrait!

Priscilla painted this 2 Anhingus hanging out on a wharf post using acrylics. Her background
has many colors and is just beautiful. The post also have many colors. The painting is
in progress . So far, its wonderful. Great job, Priscilla!

Terrie painted this mid-west scene using acrylics. Her colors are beautiful and this photo does not
do it justice. Her painting is in progress. Can't wait to see the finish painting! Great job, Terrie

Rita painted this scene using pastels. The laundry is colorful and has lots of movement.
Rita captured the spirit of this backyard scene. Beautiful, Rita!

Rita painted this backyard scene using pastels. The lobster buoys are interesting shapes within this scene. The gas can
adds a bright spot of  unexpected color. Great job Rita!

Sue painted this backyard scene using acrylics.  The background now blends with the overall painting.
