The way to understand art is to go and look at it. And if out of a million visitors there is even one to whom art means something, that is enough to justify museums ( Pierre Auguste Renoir)
"Art is a lifetime matter. The best any artist can do is to
accumulate all the knowledge possible of art and its principles, study
nature and practice continually." (Edgar Payne, 1883-1947)

Getting our creative juices flowing

This week's at Plein Air Thursday group the creative juices were flowing. I may be that spring has truly arrived in Maine or it may be that the group is thinking outside the rectangle. Whatever the reason the art produced this week was Awesome.
Terrie painted this still-life using acrylics. The pots are beautiful as well as the flowers. The background is
subtle and colorful in a soft way. Great Job, Terrie!

Nancy painted this potted plant using oils. The color pallet is soft and pleasing. The shadows make an interesting design on the porch floor. This composition is beautiful. Fabulous, Nancy!

Priscilla painted "Bates" using acrylics. The dog under the towel is interesting. Priscilla
also used patterns to add interest. Wonderful job, Priscilla!

Gail painted this knotted tree using acrylics. The complimentary colors are lovely in this painting.
Great use of greens...many different shades. Beautiful Gail!

Linda painted this barn using acrylics. The colorful field juxtaposed against the stark
barns is exciting. The gray sky works well in this painting and draws the viewer back
into the painting. Beautiful, Linda!

Sue painted this still-life using acrylics. Changing the color of the background made all the
difference in the world.

Sue painted these three towels hanging on hooks using acrylics.

Sue painted some Daffodils from her garden using acrylics.

Can't wait to see it next week.

So far she has so very interesting shapes. Can't wait to see it next week.

Michelle is painting some of her favorite authors. She is using pastels.
The painting series is going to be exciting to see who she paints next.
Great Job, Michelle!

dark windows and doors call the viewer into the painting. Beautiful, Liz!
