The way to understand art is to go and look at it. And if out of a million visitors there is even one to whom art means something, that is enough to justify museums ( Pierre Auguste Renoir)
"Art is a lifetime matter. The best any artist can do is to
accumulate all the knowledge possible of art and its principles, study
nature and practice continually." (Edgar Payne, 1883-1947)

No More Winter!

The group meet today with thougths of spring...thou it's snowing today and will be for the next few days. No one in our group painted a winter scene...we have had enough. Maybe March will be mild.
Small group today however the paintings are exceptional.
Nancy's (dryer painting) lemons. Nancy painted this still life using oils. The
reflections are beautifully done and the glow of the lemon
skin is incredible. Fabulous, Nancy.

"Ducks in a row" was painted by Nancy using oils. The children
are on an outing and  Nancy has captured the fun antics of
children being children. Wonderful light. Great job!

Nancy painted this pomegranate ( dryer painting) using oils. The beautiful shading on the
pomegranate and the shadows are nicely captured. Sorry about the
photo it does not do justice to this little gem.
Nancy, I apologize but I somehow missed taking a photo of your
sunrise painting.

Liz is painting a window scene using acrylics. Her colors are
beautiful, complimentary, and add a richness to the painting.
Beautiful Liz!

Nancy painted Monhegan!  Yes, she captured this beautiful garden
using oils. The colors are inviting and the composition is interesting. The
triangular shape of the garden brings the viewer up into the painting.
Do I see another Monhegan Island painting in your future?! Great Job, Nancy.

Gloria is painting this old barn with a tractor tire leaning against it. She
is using pastels to capture the roughness of the wooden barn. The
painting is in progress...Beautiful Gloria!

Gigi painted this Mexican street using oils. Her beautiful brush
strokes are varied which brings another layer of interest to an
already interesting painting. Beautiful Gigi!

Carol painted this scene using pastels. She did crop the
painting to a more pleasing composition. The collection
of jugs now take center stage. Beautiful. Love it Carol!

Priscilla painted this colorful rooster using acrylics. The red
barn was the perfect backdrop for this haughty barnyard character.
Love it Priscilla!

"Saucy in the moonlight"...was painted by Sue
using acrylics. The shadows are paramount in this painting
since she is using just two colors.

Hi Rita!

Linda painted this show sculpture using pastels. The Quebec Winter
Carnival had lots of show sculpture. This particular one struck a
feeling in Linda and she had to paint it. Wonderful job using blue
to cast shadows in the snow. The background is nicely done since it
it not overpowering. Great Job, Linda!

Rita painted this coastal rock formation using oil sticks. The
colors of the rocks against the blue of the water is pleasing
to the eye. The water is beautiful and has lots of stroke marks
that make the sea look rough. Beautiful Rita!
