The way to understand art is to go and look at it. And if out of a million visitors there is even one to whom art means something, that is enough to justify museums ( Pierre Auguste Renoir)
"Art is a lifetime matter. The best any artist can do is to
accumulate all the knowledge possible of art and its principles, study
nature and practice continually." (Edgar Payne, 1883-1947)

Ice and Cold

Ice and cold did not deter Plein Air Thursday Artist…in fact I think it contributed to their
creativity.
Here is the collection of their art:
Terrie sketched her design using graphite. This is the design she will put on the
ceramic item for Bangor Art Society. Beautiful design, Terrie!

Is that Terrie behind those Foster Grants??!!

Gigi painted this city scape using acrylics. The loose brush strokes and color
make this piece very interesting. Love the colors!! Fabulous, Gigi!

Gigi painted this fisherman using acrylics.  The colors of the sea and the paint thickness makes the water
appear rough and wavy. The figure is in an action pose and depicts the typical life of a Maine
fisherman. Very nicely done, Gigi!

This pastel painting was created by Michelle. The red barn against the contrast of the pale sky is
very dramatic. The foreground is interesting and the light color bring the grasses forward. Great values
in this painting.  Beautiful, Michelle!

Carol painted this Tuscan scene using oils. The stone stairs are rendered so that they convey a mystery as to
where they are going. The plants and the darkened doorway also is inviting the viewer into the painting.
Great color and composition in this painting….Fabulous Carol!

Charlene painted this fun sea creature using watercolors. The blending of colors did not show in this photo but they
are there and they are beautiful… This was the design that Charlene will be painting on her ceramic piece.
Love it, Charlene!
