The way to understand art is to go and look at it. And if out of a million visitors there is even one to whom art means something, that is enough to justify museums ( Pierre Auguste Renoir)
"Art is a lifetime matter. The best any artist can do is to
accumulate all the knowledge possible of art and its principles, study
nature and practice continually." (Edgar Payne, 1883-1947)

New Year with New Changes

The new year is about change. This season we are meeting on a different day, Tuesdays.  I know it doesn't work for everyone but it works for most of us.  We will leave Thursdays open for plain air painting. I already have a trip planned for the spring….Sandy Point Beach.  Just something to look forward to.
Our first session on Tuesday went very well. We connected to our creative side and painted our hearts out. Here is the results.
Sheila preparing to paint

Michelle and Charlene look over Carol's shoulder

The line-up

Charlene painted this Tuscan country side…including 2 castles. She used watercolor to make this enchanting scene.
The values are wonderful, the dusty blue mountains recede and the warm earth colors come forward.
Fabulous Charlene!

Michelle sketched this barn using charcoal. The lines are very interesting with the peak of the
building going off the page. Wonderful shadows define the recessed section of the barn.
Wonderful, Charlene!

Sheila painted this scene of Sandy Point Beach using watercolor. The grasses are beautiful and she captured the
essence of this scene. Fabulous sky!  This is such a great painting, Sheila.!!

Sue painted this figurative using acrylics. This is just the blocking in stage…just the darks.

Sue painted this scene of Perry, Maine. High on a cliff looking down on the scene is the perspective she used.

Carol listening to Michelle and Charlene

The line-up

Carol painted this Tuscan city street scene using oils. She is blocking in the colors of the base and already
one can see the enticement of the scene. Fabulous colors, Carol. Beautiful Job!!!
