The way to understand art is to go and look at it. And if out of a million visitors there is even one to whom art means something, that is enough to justify museums ( Pierre Auguste Renoir)
"Art is a lifetime matter. The best any artist can do is to
accumulate all the knowledge possible of art and its principles, study
nature and practice continually." (Edgar Payne, 1883-1947)

Busy Time

Spring is here and it is a very busy time. We had a small group today however we made great strides.
I love the creativity that came through and I think you will like it also.

Just want to ask everyone to keep Gloria in your prayers.

Here are our masterpieces for this week.
Priscilla painted this sociological statement piece using acrylics. This is the invisible woman with
words and sentences of age discrimination. Priscilla ran the triathlon and heard these words spoken
She decided to paint this piece using the words and sentences all around the figure.

This is a close up of part of the painting so you could see the words.

Another close up so you can see the words. This is a powerful piece and Priscilla has done it justice.
As a triathlete herself, she has experienced these words.
Fabulous, Priscilla! I love it!

Sue painted this unlucky canoeist using acrylics. Her attempt to have the man looking like he is falling
was a hurdle that Sue managed to clear.

Sheila started this painting today and will be bringing it in so we can see the finished product. She used watercolor and the
colors are vivid and vibrant in places and soft in others. Great Job Sheila!

Nancy is painting a series of her glass coffee table. She is using oils and the composition is so wonderful and interesting.
She is painting the plants. and the pt on the left is a gorgeous color. Nancy, can't wait to see this finished...and we
want to see the whole series. Fabulous so far!

Sue started this painting of two pairs and some flowers. This painting is in progress.

Spring Painting

Small group today...Gigi, Sheila and myself. We did have a great time painting. Priscilla stopped in and she had a horrible cold so she went directly home.
Spring is trying to come to Maine but we're having issues with the temperature.
Happy Easter everyone!

Sheila painted this floral with watercolor. The colors are vibrant and bright and is just what we all needed
today. Sheila has a great composition with the stems going from bottom left to right corner. The blue background
is beautiful and has lots of variations. Great job, Sheila!

Gigi painted this scene using acrylics. She found this garden in the center of St Andrews, Canada and
wanted to paint it. Her warm colors in the foreground draw the viewer into the
painting with the eye traveling back to the windmill. Fabulous Gigi!

Sue painted these two pairs using acrylics. The painting is in progress with lots more to go.

Spring with Enthusiasm

Spring gets so busy after a long and slow winter, it's difficult to get back into the busy mode. Maybe I'll blame my slip-up on that.(Sorry) I forgot to post last weeks photos so this week I will have photos from both painting sessions.
Both sessions were very productive.
Priscilla is painting this socio-political piece using acrylics
She is using this painting to make a statement about ageism
So far Priscilla has painted in the background and part of the runner.
So far it is very good! Can't wait to see this piece finished.

Sue painted this pasture scene using acrylics. She has been working on it
for several weeks...and now it is done. This farm is close by to where Sue lives.

Sheila painted this row of Kayak's using watercolor. The stack of them
makes for an interesting composition  and  color pattern.
Great job, Sheila!

Sheila painted this lady using watercolor. I especially love the hat but Sheila has
rendered this figure very nicely. Love the color !
Great Job Sheila!

Terrie painted this claw foot tub in this summer cottage using acrylics. The
painting has a soft quality with lots of color. I would love to be soaking in this
tub gazing at the beautiful view. Fabulous job, Terrie!

Gigi painted this girl in a hammock using acrylics. I love the fluid motion of the trees and the
many colors that she used. Wonderful Gigi!

Rita brings us to Italy with this scene that she captured using pastels.
The shapes in this painting make it interesting and the colors make it playful.
What a happy painting. Gorgeous, Rita!

Rita painted another Italian scene using pastels. The colors are beautiful as well
as the marks. This painting is in progress....so far it's beautiful, Rita!

Rita painted this colorful  windowsill using pastels. The potted
plants are a window garden. The curtain on the window is soft
and sheer.  Rita's approach with color and markings make this
painting a keeper! Beautiful, Rita!

Glass top-table is by Nancy. She is painting a series using this table. The glass
reflections are fabulous as well as the plants and shell.
