Quote

The way to understand art is to go and look at it. And if out of a million visitors there is even one to whom art means something, that is enough to justify museums ( Pierre Auguste Renoir)
"Art is a lifetime matter. The best any artist can do is to
accumulate all the knowledge possible of art and its principles, study
nature and practice continually." (Edgar Payne, 1883-1947)

Creativity Abounds

The art room was humming with excitement today. Brushes were flying across the canvases and the pastels were pumping as the group got down to some serious work.
This week we had a visitor, Judy Graebert and she will be joining us on Thursdays to paint. She lives in Stockton Springs and is an architect. Some of us met her in Susan Toby White's classes. You will find her a delightful addition to our group.
Missing Sheila, Gail, Linda,Carol, Gloria and Nancy. Hopefully they will attend next week.
Now for the art…some wonderful pieces were created.
Priscilla and Rita conversing.

Priscilla painted these two Anhingas punched on a wharf post using acrylics. Her colorful
adaptation of these birds are Priscilla's signature. Great job, Priscilla and good to
have you back.!

Liz painted this row boat using acrylics. The colors and composition are very interesting and
difficult to do but Liz has done a great job with all those angles. This painting is in progress. Wonderful Liz !

"Wine and Roses" painted by Liz using acrylics. Beautiful composition and flow. The loose floral bouquet is
the center point  of this painting. Fabulous, Liz!

Sue painted this scene of looking out from Cadillac Mt.  She is using acrylics for this large piece 24 X 36
This is the underpainting so there are many layers to go.

Gigi painted this lighthouse scene using oils. The perspective and composition are very interesting. Her brush strokes add interest as well. Fabulous job, Gigi !

Terrie painted this Italian building using acrylics. The windows add mystery to the scene. Beautiful colors and
composition. This painting is in progress. Love it, Terrie!

Rita painted this market scene using pastels. Her composition is wonderful and the colors make this
painting sing! Fabulous Rita!

Michelle painted this scene using charcoal. The small building is reflected in the water.
Values are so important in this type of painting and Michelle has done a great job.
Such a simple composition can be beautiful as seen here. Fabulous painting, Michelle

Charlene painted this house on Monhegan. She started this by painting an underpainting of orange and putting
in her darkest areas. Today she painted in the sky and the top of the building. The painting has greatness.
Great job, Charlene
