The way to understand art is to go and look at it. And if out of a million visitors there is even one to whom art means something, that is enough to justify museums ( Pierre Auguste Renoir)
"Art is a lifetime matter. The best any artist can do is to
accumulate all the knowledge possible of art and its principles, study
nature and practice continually." (Edgar Payne, 1883-1947)

November- Giving Back Month

We are well into November and the chilly weather is upon us. The Art room was warm with excitement and creativity.
We decided as a group to bring in some things that the Center needs, such as:
Tin Foil
Stamps
Wet and dry Swiffer refills
Ziploc Bags (1 gal. size and 1 quart size)
Liguid handpump bathroom soap
items for "Its a Basket Case" fundraiser
Colorful/festive party plates and napkins
Leave things at the desk with Tracy and let her know that it is from our group.

The following week we will bring in non perishable  food for the poor.

We were still missing a few people…Priscilla, Terrie, Gloria, Gail, Carol, and Nancy.

This week was a busy one.( My apologies to Gigi, she painted this great Light House and somehow I deleted the photo, along with mine. Anyway if you could bring it in next time I will be sure that it gets put on the blog. I promise!)

Here are the results of this weeks session:
Rita added the finishing touches to this market scene. The colors pop! Fabulous Rita!

Rita with her pastels

Linda painted this piece of granite at the quarry using pastels. The organic quality
of the painting is delicious! This stone is beautiful.  Wonderful Job, Linda!

Liz is painting the interior scene with sun flowers. The composition is very interesting with all the angles and
the sunflowers are bright and uplifting. Fabulous job, Liz

Charlene is painting the Monhegan cottage using oils. Her technique is unique in that she paints from the top down.
I know this is going to be beautiful!   The light in the window adds to the piece. Fabulous job, Charlene!

Sheila painted these colorful fall leaves using watercolor. Her colors are beautiful and they blend into each other
to create another color….just fabulous, Sheila!

Sheila painted this winter scene using watercolors. The white birches are the centerpiece of the painting but the
soft edges that she created on the fir trees is a wonderful contrast to the straight birches.
Wonderful Sheila!

Michelle drew this scene using charcoal. The values in the painting are exceptional and the suggestion of
the greases is all she needed to set off this painting. Love it, Michelle! Great Job.

Sue finished this stormy scene using acrylics.
