The way to understand art is to go and look at it. And if out of a million visitors there is even one to whom art means something, that is enough to justify museums ( Pierre Auguste Renoir)
"Art is a lifetime matter. The best any artist can do is to
accumulate all the knowledge possible of art and its principles, study
nature and practice continually." (Edgar Payne, 1883-1947)

Great paintings and Gigi's Show

This week was a busy one. We painted like we always do and we had Gigi's Art Show Opening at the Senior Center all in one afternoon.
Here are lots of pictures:
The group is packing up to go down to Gigi's reception.

Critique line-up

Terrie painted this pilot using acrylics. The story behind this
painting is unique and interesting, just like the painting is. The values
Terrie has established for a great start. The composition is very
interesting. Terrie this is going to be a gem! Great Job!

Terrie painted this silo and barn using acrylics. The tree with its' graceful curves is
in contrast to the straight lines of the barn . Terrie used a soft color pallet to accentuate
the old weathered feel of these buildings. Fabulous Terrie!

And we're off to Italy....with Charlene who painted this street
scene using oils. The building shapes are in contrast to the round
umbrellas. Love this Charlene...Fabulous job!

Barn and cows in the pasture. Sue painted this underpainting so this has very far to go. Will
post the finish one next week.

Nancy painted this still life using acrylics. Her fabulous uses of shadows and values
makes this painting interesting. The painting is in progress. So far you are doing
a wonderful job..

Priscilla this week tried her had at abstract painting. This one done in acrylic is a lovely combination of warm
and cool colors as well as line variations. This painting is in progress. This is a fabulous start and I
will post the finish painting next week. I think your a natural for abstract painting, I love this one!

Priscilla put some finishing touches on this masterpiece from last week.  The juxtaposition of the
abstract background and the dog is brilliant. This is a wonderful acrylic, Priscilla!
