Between the Rain Drops

Yes, rain again. We haven't  had much luck in painting plain air because of the rain. Today was no exception.
Plein Air Thursday group hiked to the 3rd floor (elevator still broken). We are firming up our thighs and butt.
This week was an exciting one....Liz is back.
Carol joined us for lunch....she lunched while we painted. Nancy didn't bring her paints but did bring some paintings that well be in the HSSC calendar.
Here is some exciting new paintings...
Terri started this acrylic painting today. She is painting the same scene
that she had but is painting it larger. Great start , Terri

This is Terri's small version(acrylic). The brush stokes are really great
and the painting has atmosphere. Beautiful Terri!

Terri painted this flower using acrylic. The complimentary
color background makes the flower pop. Very Nice.

Michelle painted this shadow picture using pastels. The composition
of this painting is exceptional. Great values also.

Michelle painted this rock using pastels. The
green slim on the rock is colorful. Very abstract and beautiful.

Sheila painted this watermelon using watercolor. Don't  you
want to take a bite? Beautiful gradation and colors.

Gloria painted this using acrylics. It is a window
in one of our local churches. Great start Gloria.

Liz painted flowers in a vase using pastels. She created
a very contemporary design. This will be great framed.

from the people in the painting and designates the scale of the

Priscilla painted this painting using acrylics. The movement in the
piece is wonderful. Great job Priscilla!
Gail painted this underpainting using watercolor pencils. The
wash creates a soft effect on the fire weed.

with the watercolor over makes for a beautiful effect.

Artist gather to create

The Plein Air Thursday group gathered today at the Senior Center. We decided to paint inside since the sky was a bit threatening.
The creativity was so exciting in the room today.Some artist created their paintings with oils, some with watercolor, some used pastels and some did sketches with pen.
We did have some visitors to the art room...Kathy Bernier and a tour group of new members. It was fun to show our paintings.
Missing Gigi and wish her a speedy recovery.
We did make a tour of the vault with the mat cutter. Hopefully we can get someone to do a tutorial. We need help.
 Rita and Sue are entering some of their pieces to the Waterville Arts Gallery.
Rita used pastels to create this beautiful ocean scene. The
water is captivating.

Rita painted this scene of the Bangor Waterfront using
pastels and it was painted plain air. Great Job, Rita

Rita used pastels to capture a bit of the downtown architecture.
This is a small but powerful piece. Kudos, Rita

Rita used pastels to paint her garden arbor. The
garden and the painting are beautiful. This was
painted plein air. Lovely!

Rita used pastel to paint this Island of Manana just off
Monhegan. The composition os this piece is strong and Rita used strong
bold strokes that make for an interesting painting. 

Sheila painted this lighthouse using watercolor. This difficult
subject didn't deter Sheila she forged on to create
this beautiful piece. Great job Sheila!

Michelle used pastel to paint these leaves. She sketched them last week
when we were outside near Charlie's garden. Her subtle use of color
creates curves in the leaves and makes for a great composition.

Nancy put down the first layer on this oil painting. Her underpainting
is already very interesting with the shadows. Hope to see this next week

Out and about in Bangor

The Plein Air Thursday group painted outside since the weather cooperated. It was a beautiful sunny day, just perfect for painting. Here is the results of our delightful afternoon.
