The way to understand art is to go and look at it. And if out of a million visitors there is even one to whom art means something, that is enough to justify museums ( Pierre Auguste Renoir)
"Art is a lifetime matter. The best any artist can do is to
accumulate all the knowledge possible of art and its principles, study
nature and practice continually." (Edgar Payne, 1883-1947)

Out and About

The weather was so wonderful on Thursday that we painted outside. What a wonderful feeling to be out in the open air painting. We painted in the park across from HSSC. We had some visitors that stopped to talk. Lois Marchand and her friends from Korea stopped by. They were thrilled to have had to opportunity to meet some artist in Bangor.
We also met Briane Beck who is actress and is staring in a play at the Penobscot Theater "Your perfect, I love You, Now Change".
Our group was a small one this week but we did some excellent work.

Michelle working hard

Hi Michelle.

Linda painted this pastel. The pastel is a  painting of her daughter in Germany.
Love the contemporary look of this painting. Great Job Linda!

Barbara working on her painting

Michelle sketched this using pit pens and charcoal. Wonderful, Michelle.

Barbara painted this watercolor with a loose feel. The background buildings
are beautiful yet are not the point of interest. The bush is painted with
lots of colors that make for a very interesting painting.

Hannibal Hamlin Statue

Sue painted this using oils. The painting is in progress.

  1. These are wonderful!!! I love them all and was so glad that Linda brought her portrait in so we could see the finished project. Love your composition of Hannibal Hamlin, Barbara's of course was great with the plant making such a nice statement, and Michelle's sketch was great, again the cropping makes it so much more interesting. That sounds like such a fun and productive day. Wow!!
