The way to understand art is to go and look at it. And if out of a million visitors there is even one to whom art means something, that is enough to justify museums ( Pierre Auguste Renoir)
"Art is a lifetime matter. The best any artist can do is to
accumulate all the knowledge possible of art and its principles, study
nature and practice continually." (Edgar Payne, 1883-1947)

Between the Rain Drops

Yes, rain again. We haven't  had much luck in painting plain air because of the rain. Today was no exception.
Plein Air Thursday group hiked to the 3rd floor (elevator still broken). We are firming up our thighs and butt.
This week was an exciting one....Liz is back.
Carol joined us for lunch....she lunched while we painted. Nancy didn't bring her paints but did bring some paintings that well be in the HSSC calendar.
Here is some exciting new paintings...
Terri started this acrylic painting today. She is painting the same scene
that she had but is painting it larger. Great start , Terri

This is Terri's small version(acrylic). The brush stokes are really great
and the painting has atmosphere. Beautiful Terri!

Terri painted this flower using acrylic. The complimentary
color background makes the flower pop. Very Nice.

Michelle painted this shadow picture using pastels. The composition
of this painting is exceptional. Great values also.
Wonderful, Michelle

Michelle painted this rock using pastels. The
green slim on the rock is colorful. Very abstract and beautiful.

Sheila painted this watermelon using watercolor. Don't  you
want to take a bite? Beautiful gradation and colors.
Wonderful Sheila.

Gloria painted this using acrylics. It is a window
in one of our local churches. Great start Gloria.

Liz painted flowers in a vase using pastels. She created
a very contemporary design. This will be great framed.
Good job

Liz painted this Carribean scene using pastels. The perspective is
from the people in the painting and designates the scale of the
mountain in the background . Beautiful painting, Liz

Priscilla painted this painting using acrylics. The movement in the
piece is wonderful. Great job Priscilla!
Gail painted this underpainting using watercolor pencils. The
wash creates a soft effect on the fire weed.
Painting is in progress.  Great Job Gail.

Gail painted this Maine scene using watercolors. The ink drawing
with the watercolor over makes for a beautiful effect.
Wonderful, Gail

Gail painted these leaves using watercolor pencils. The yellow
of the leaves contrast with the purple outline and the red stem.
Great Job Gail.
Sue finished her oil painting from last week. The Stonington scene is
one that is painted by many artists. Thank you to Nancy
for her help on this one.

Sue sketched this scene using ink. This will be her next painting.
